The economic toll of the coronavirus pandemic has made 2020 a difficult year for many, but the Crivitz community is stepping up to offset need with an event later this week aimed at stocking the shelves for local families just in time for the holidays. Nicole Witt has spent the past several weeks organizing an effort to collect toys, clothing, food, and other household items that will be distributed to anyone who needs them this Friday and Saturday. She says she’s hoping to serve as many as possible, regardless of age or income.

Witt didn’t organize the event alone, however. She says with the help of family at the Witt Ford dealership in Crivitz and a few well-received social media posts, the idea took off and the community response has been overwhelming.

Witt says she’s still accepting food and other donations for the drive through Thursday at the former Witt Auto Collision Center on Main Street in Crivitz. Distribution will take place Friday and Saturday at that same location from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. with no pre-registration required.
