Community support is helping to keep the doors open at Marinette’s St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. The pantry serves around 250 residents each week totaling more than 12000 visits annually. Bonnie Matthews is the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry manager. She says the pantry couldn’t have the impact it does without the countless hours put in by the organization’s volunteers.
Much of the food the pantry receives comes from partnerships with local grocers, but, another major component is community donation. Matthews says residents will have an opportunity to further support the pantry’s mission at a food drive during Menominee’s Waterfront Festival next month.
While the need for food assistance is year-round, the food pantry often sees a higher demand during the summer months when children aren’t receiving school lunches. Anyone seeking to donate to or volunteer with Marinette’s St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry should visit them at 1619 Main Street in Marinette or call 715-735-6956.
