With the City of Marinette already receiving a five-million-dollar EDA grant to repair roads the city of Marinette along with Ayers and Associates took it a step further and took the ideas, concerns, and visions of the business owners and developed a pedestrian corridor and plaza in the downtown district. Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot says, “the one-million dollars to do the downtown is all coming from federal grant funds.”

The council approved an agreement for $8,500 with Ayers and Associates to submit the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant application for the funding of the Main Street Plaza in downtown Marinette. The downtown Mainstreet project is slated to begin later this year.
