09/27/2018- It’s one of the busiest seasons of the year for farmers in Marinette County. With the increase in harvest time activities, drivers can expect to be sharing the road with more tractors and other agricultural equipment. That’s why officials are reminding motorists and farm vehicle operators alike to remain patient and alert while traveling to their destinations. Drivers should always scan the road ahead and be ready to reduce speed when approaching slow-moving farm vehicles and keep in mind that it is illegal to pass these vehicles in a no passing zone. Ag vehicle operators need to know the lighting and marking requirements for their equipment and should stay as far to the right as possible when traveling on a roadway. Since 2011, there have been nearly 1300 crashes between motorists and farm vehicles throughout Wisconsin resulting in 640 injuries and 21 fatalities.
