05/22/2019- A big push to increase business and industry in Menominee County is underway. The county’s Board of Commissioners recently approved establishing an Economic Development Committee to focus on attracting and retaining business and help bolster the local economy. County Administrator Jason Carviou first introduced the idea at the start of the year. He says the committee’s responsibilities and goals will develop over time, but there are a few priorities he expects they’ll get started on right away, like the creation of a land bank and Brownfield Authority.
Three County Commissioners, the County’s Treasurer and Administrator, and the Executive Director of the Menominee Business Development Corporation will sit on the newly formed Economic Development Committee. Carviou expects to appoint those commissioners at their next County Board meeting.
