08/24/2020- It’s a sure sign summer is coming to an end. Marinette’s City Pool officially closed for the season Friday, wrapping up a summer of changes for the facility to meet COVID-19 safety guidelines. City Pool opened June 17th with limited hours and operated at only 25% capacity to allow for social distancing between pool users. They also opted to keep locker rooms closed and the wading pool empty for the summer. While some council members were concerned about the decision to open the pool and the potential for COVID-19 spread, Executive Director of Recreation and Events Gavin Scray reports there were few issues with guests not adhering to social distancing requirements. He adds that despite what were hopefully only temporary limitations, usage of the facility was still fair this season.
