12/21/2018- It’s the final push for the local Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign as they work toward this year’s collection goal. As of Thursday, Captain Joshua Stansbury says the organization had collected around $50000 of their $81000 goal. About 2.5% of that came from a single gold coin left anonymously at one of the area Red Kettle locations.
Stansbury says it’s the volunteers that make all the difference. On average, they see a 300% increase in donations at manned-kettles versus unmanned ones. You can still sign up to volunteer online at register-to-ring-dot-com. The Red Kettle Campaign runs through 5:00 PM Christmas Eve.
