They’re a staple at most Independence Day celebrations, but for some of our nation’s veterans, who suffer from PTSD, the sights and sounds of fireworks can trigger intense feelings of stress and fear. That’s why Wells State Park is once again hosting Fireworks Free Fourth July 2nd through the 6th. During this week, veterans and their families, as well as anyone else seeking a quieter Fourth of July, are invited to celebrate the holiday at the park away from traditional community firework displays. Ian Diffenderfer is the Wells State Park Supervisor. He says while there won’t be any fireworks, there will be plenty of other activities going on at the park throughout the week.
