05/09/2019- It’s not often a city receives a check for $95000, but that’s exactly what happened at Marinette’s Common Council meeting Tuesday night. John Beard with Focus on Energy presented Mayor Steve Genisot and others involved in the Community REC Center project with a rebate check for their efforts to make the new facility more energy efficient. Beard says the program works in conjunction with utility providers like WPS to provide advice and financial incentives to those who invest in energy efficiency and renewable resources.
The good news didn’t end with the check. Beard says the decision to go green will offer energy savings for the City well into the future.
Mayor Genisot says the city has not decided yet how the Focus on Energy rebate will be spent, but the money has been set aside in a special account until a specific purpose is identified.
