09/12/2019- The USDA is making grant funding available through the Community Facilities Program to help communities in the UP continue their recovery from the devastating rains and flooding seen last summer. The money is included in the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act that President Trump signed into law in June and may be used in communities in Houghton, Gogebic, and Menominee counties impacted by the Father’s Day floods of 2018. More than 100 types of projects are eligible for Community Facilities funding and eligible applicants include municipalities, public bodies, nonprofit organizations and federally recognized Native American tribes. Projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less. Grant applications will be accepted at USDA state offices on a continual basis until funds are exhausted.
