10/31/2019- Wisconsin State Senator Dave Hansen is seeking public input on the rising cost of diabetes medication. The Green Bay Democrat announced he has added a link to his official web page for people who are having trouble affording their insulin to share their stories and experiences. Hansen recently introduced legislation with Representative Jimmy Anderson that would cap the cost of insulin, a bill that’s been supported by the American Diabetes Association. Senator Hansen says residents’ inability to afford the high cost of insulin is a growing crisis in Wisconsin and around the country. The price of the medication has jumped from $33 per vial in 1996 to over $320 today. Hansen says by raising awareness of the number of people in the state who are forced to make difficult and dangerous decisions because of the cost of insulin, he hopes his legislation on the matter will receive the support it needs to pass by the end of the Legislature’s session next spring.
