The Menominee Zoning Board of Appeals has approved a variance to allow buildings up to 75 feet to be constructed on the site of the former K-Mart building. The area is zoned C-1 commercial, which allows only structures up to 35 feet. The 75 foot height limit is the same as allowed in C-2 commercial districts. The variance would accommodate multi-story buildings that would be part of a proposed Mixed-Use Center that could be built on the site. Keith Killen of M&M Plaza Enterprises who purchased the K-Mart building and property last July says he has been seeking the best possible development for the K-Mart parcel, and has been recently been working with a Marquette based developer on a possible project for the site.
