You can walk to help the hungry this weekend. NEWCAP’s first annual Hike for Hunger will be held Saturday, May 5th at Marinette’s City Park. President and CEO, Cheryl Detrick says this two-mile walk will help stock the shelves at more than three dozen food pantries and meal sites throughout our region.
NEWCAP’s served around 34-thousand individuals and 12-thousand families across ten counties last year and 69% of those receiving assistance were employed at least part-time. Detrick says summertime is often when the struggle to afford food hits many families the hardest.
Participants in the Hike for Hunger are asked to collect sponsorships or make a non-perishable food donation. Registration can be completed online at newcap.org or in-person beginning at 8:00 AM Saturday. The walk starts at 9:00 AM.
