01/31/2019- It’s not just people that are struggling with the bitter cold: your home heating system could be, too. Heating and air service providers are seeing an uptick in service calls at the temperatures fall from homeowners who fear their furnace may be failing. But Joe Truitt, owner of Zeratsky Extreme Heating and Cooling says what’s more likely happening is the system just isn’t able to keep up with the demand being placed on it by these severe conditions.
Homeowners are encouraged to change their furnace filter to increase efficiency when the temperatures drop and to leave their thermostat set at the same temperature even when they’re out so the furnace doesn’t have to try to reheat the entire house once they get home. Residents should also check the exhaust vents outside their home to ensure no snow drifts or ice buildup have formed around them.
