Ice cutting operations will take place in the bay of Green Bay this week. The US Coast Guard’s cutter Mobile Bay will escort the M/V Algosteel from the Rock Island Passage to the entrance of the Fox River so that the Algosteel may deliver a load of salt to the Port of Green Bay. Other ice breaking work in the bay is also scheduled through Friday, January 18th, concluding with work off Sturgeon Bay and Escanaba to allow for the winter layup of eight vessels. Recreational ice users should use caution when on the ice and avoid shipping channels during this time.
