08/21/2019- The purchase of a new system designed to keep damaging ice out of the Menominee Marina gets the green light from City Council. Monday, Council approved a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation/ Buildings and Grounds Committee to spend up to $70000 on ice diffusion equipment to protect the fixed docks in the marina. The equipment works by pumping air underwater around the docks to create water movement, thus preventing or at least weakening ice formation. Because of the specialized nature of the system, Council also agreed to waive the formal bid process. The money for the new system will come from the Marina Management Group’s general fund balance.
