07/03/2019- July Fourth holiday travelers are asked to buckle up and be patient and alert as they hit the road. The Wisconsin DOT says most highway construction will come to a temporary stop for the holiday, but motorists will still need to watch out for work zones, reduced speed limits and potential slow-downs. Peak travel times are expected between noon and 8 p.m. today and Sunday and construction in most highway work zones will not resume until 6 a.m. on Monday, July 8th. Drivers are reminded to eliminate distractions while driving, move over or slow down when approaching emergency responders stopped along the highway, and properly secure all trailers and cargo. Travel volume this Independence Day is expected to rise more than 4-percent over last year’s numbers, according to AAA, with over 930000 people hitting the road in the Badger State.
