06/04/2019- More manpower is coming to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office under a plan approved by the state’s Joint Finance Committee. Committee co-chair Representative John Nygren supported a measure to add more than two dozen new prosecutor positions across 36 Wisconsin counties, including Marinette. He says prosecutors play a critical role in the criminal justice system and this investment will help address needs across the state, resulting in swifter justice for victims of crime, while also expanding a DA’s ability to offer alternatives to incarceration for certain offenders. This is the largest staffing increase since District Attorneys became state employees 30 years ago. The new prosecutor positions are expected to start October 1st.
