02/28/2019- Court Appointed Special Advocates serve as a critical go-between for abused and neglected children in the court system and a Menominee County Judge is asking the County to provide funding to support these badly-needed services. Probate Court Judge Dan Hass gave a presentation on the Menominee County CASA program to the County Board of Commissioners Tuesday. The program operates on an annual budget of about 40-thousand dollars and he’s looking to pursue an additional $13500 grant, but says it requires a $6700 match from the County. Judge Hass calls the work CASA volunteers perform invaluable.
Hass’ request was sent to the County’s Finance Committee for consideration. The $6700 match will need to be approved in the next 60 days for the County to be eligible to apply for the current CASA grant cycle.
