LCS 11, the future USS Sioux City, is set to be delivered to the Navy this summer. Lockheed Martin announced the Marinette Marine-built ship’s successful completion of its Acceptance Trials in Lake Michigan this week. The trials took place May 20th through the 24th and included surface and air detect-to-engage demonstrations of the ship’s combat system. LCS 11 is one of eight ships in production at Fincantieri Marinette Marine. The next Freedom-variant ship slated to undergo testing is LCS 13, the future USS Wichita. That ship will begin Acceptance Trials in early summer and is expected to be delivered to the Navy later this year.
