03/12/2019- Spring-like temps are in the forecast for the week and while they may be cause for celebration, the rapid warm-up is also causing some concern. Kathy Frank is Marinette County’s Emergency Management Coordinator. She says residents living in low lying areas, and particularly those close to rivers and other bodies of water, should prepare for the potential for flooding by stocking up on sandbags now.
Beyond home flooding, there’s the potential for road flooding, as well, this week. Frank says many storm sewers have been blocked by snow and ice, leaving melting snow and rain with nowhere to go.
Some parts of Marinette County have as much as three feet of snow on the ground. Frank reminds residents that it may be wise to check your home’s flood insurance policy and make sure you’re covered before trouble strikes.
