10/23/2018- Marinette County’s Mental Health Court is “up and running” according to Jail Administrator Bob Majewski. County officials have been working for several months to establish the program locally and held their first session two weeks ago. There are currently two active participants in the Mental Health Court, with three more expected to join in the coming weeks. The program is aimed at lowering the recidivism rate by providing mental health treatment to those in the jail system that need it and monitoring them following release to ensure they continue to take the medication prescribed to them. There are only around half a dozen other similar mental health court programs throughout Wisconsin.
