03/30/2020- A group of residents is making the best out of staying home by helping out those who can’t. Members of the Facebook group “Masks for Marinette Healthcare Workers”- now more than 150 people strong- have been spending their days sewing masks for medical workers and emergency responders in the area to help ease the burden of the nationwide shortage of these critical supplies. Organizer Kristin DeGrave says they donated about 235 masks in just their first week and she expects those numbers to ramp up as more people get involved and they hear from more organizations who could benefit.
DeGrave says all of the supplies to make the masks are available locally and JoAnn’s Fabric Store in Marinette has stepped up to assist in the effort by providing both material and patterns.
Those who are interested in taking part can search for the Masks for Marinette Healthcare Workers group on Facebook. Organizations in need of masks should call DeGrave directly at 920-810-6035.
