04/07/2020- It’s election day in Wisconsin and in addition to the Presidential Preference and the Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice race, there are several local races to be decided on. County-wide, the race for Brach I Circuit Court Judge features Jane Kopish-Sequin and Mike Perrry. On the Marinette County Board there are contested races in Districts 1, 14, 16, 21, 26, and 28. In the City of Marinette, Ward 3 Alderperson John Marx is being challenged by Doug Oitzinger and voters will decide between John LaCourt or current Ward 6 Alderperson Peter Noppenburg for the municipal judge seat. The mayoral race in the City of Peshtigo features incumbent Cathi Malke versus challenger Tony O’Neill for a two-year term there. Marinette County Clerk Kathy Brandt says polls are open for in-person voting and voters will need to show an ID and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Day-of voting numbers are expected to be well-lower than average and that may be a good thing with the number of available poll workers dropping for this election, as well.
Polls are open today until 8 p.m. Brandt says the county has seen three times the number of absentee ballot requests for this election. Voters must have those absentee ballots postmarked by today.
