85-year-old Raymand Vannieuwenhoven was serving two life prison terms for the 1976 murder of a couple at a Marinette County Park, has died. While the murders of Ellen Mathys and David Schuldes at McClintock County Park happened in 1976, Vannieuwenhoven wasn’t charged until March 2019, after DNA samples matched him to the case. A jury convicted him after a trial last July. Vannieuwenhoven denied involvement in the deaths and was appealing the conviction. State court records include an entry Wednesday noting the status has changed, listing him as deceased. Vannieuwenhoven has been incarcerated in the Dodge Correctional Center in Waupan since September of last year.
