02/19/2020-Temporary road bans go on for Marinette County highways in just under two weeks. Seasonal weight restrictions will become effective at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 3rd. All county highway restrictions will be posted for 6 tons maximum per single axle and 10 ton maximum per tandem axle group. In addition, all non-divisible overweight permits will be suspended during this time. Highway Department officials say with the increased amount of rain experienced in the past two years and the high potential for flooding this spring, permits to exceed these limits will be granted on a limited basis. These Spring weight limit restrictions are necessary for the longevity and immediate structural stability of highways that, without restrictions, would likely deteriorate when the underlying ground is weak from melting frost. The restrictions do not include town roads and towns will need to be contacted directly for the status of their weight restrictions.
