03/27/2020- The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received two reports of someone possibly impersonating an officer claiming to be doing compliance checks for the state’s Safer at Home order. The most recent incident involved someone being pulled over Wednesday morning near Wausaukee by a person who may have been impersonating an officer who asked about that driver’s work permit. The “officer’ was driving a dark SUV and had blue flashing strobe lights in the area of the headlights. He’s said to be about 5’10” tall and medium build. The driver stated they did not believe he was wearing a uniform, but he did have a flashlight and the driver had a hard time seeing past it. Officials stress they are not doing compliance checks and there is no “permit” necessary to be out and about. Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department.
