03/28/2018–The Marinette County Board approved on a 21-8 vote a proposal to switch from an elected coroner to an appointed medical examiner. The change will take effect in January at the end of the current Coroners’ term. The change will give the county board more control over the position. The duties will remain the same. County Administrator John LaFebre says the county will now have to develop the job description as they would for any other new position. The county will probably advertise for the position in late summer.
