Jim Bird, a lifelong resident of the City of Marinette and former City of Marinette firefighter registered last week as write-in candidate for District 30, Ward 8 on the Marinette County Board. Bird says, “I think they need someone there for the betterment of everybody and I would like to be the person to do it.”

It was the urging of Bird’s neighbors that made him decide to run as a write-in for District 30. His challenger is Denise Oleszak and will be listed on the ballot. Bird will not. The district 30 seat became vacant after the death of veteran Al Mans earlier this year.
