12/20/2018- Mark your calendars: Marinette’s new REC Center will officially open its doors to the public January 28th. While the facility was originally expected to be complete last spring, poor weather conditions and construction delays pushed the opening date back several times, much to the frustration of residents and city officials alike. The 114000 square-foot REC Center on Pierce Avenue includes an ice arena, turf area, walking track, and meeting space. The total price tag came in near $17-million, though the city is still in litigation over who will cover the costs associated with replacing the improperly installed exterior panels. Although the first day of business is January 28th, Marinette is planning open house events for city officials and employees, project donors, and the general public in the week leading up to their opening.
