The Marinette County Sheriff’s office received calls Sunday about someone calling people and claiming to be a Marinette County deputy. According to a Facebook Post, the caller is not providing a name. All of the victims so far have been registered sex offenders living in the county. The caller tells the parties they failed to submit for a DNA test and now have a warrant for their arrest but it’s bondable. The amounts the person asked for so far have ranged from $500 to $5,000. The caller  has a southern accent, and the people are saying when he calls, it shows up as the Marinette County dispatch phone number or a blocked caller. The caller is asking people to put money on a quick pay card and give him the numbers for it. After one victim did this, the suspect then advised him he actually had a second warrant and he needed to get money and go to the sheriff’s office. Please be aware, this is a scam! When in doubt about a phone call you receive, please call Marinette County Dispatch at 715-732-7627.
