If you’re heading out on the bay to do a little fishing this weekend, you’re definitely not alone. Today kicks off the two-day Masters Walleye Circuit happening in Marinette, drawing in 78 teams from throughout the Midwest and across the country, gunning for a big payout and even bigger fish. Gavin Scray is the tournament chairperson and Marinette’s Executive Director of Recreation and Events. He says this type of event offers a big economic boost to the community and solidifies Marinette as a world-class fishing destination.

While it’s the latest in a string of high-profile fishing tournaments to come to the City in recent years, this Masters Walleye Circuit is the first to happen locally post-COVID and Scray says that means they’ve had to make some modifications to ensure it’s a safe event for the community and the anglers that take part.

The winner of the tournament will be determined by the five largest fish brought in by a team. The public can watch those weigh-ins live online beginning at 3 p.m. today and tomorrow at masterswalleyecircuit.com or by visiting the Masters Walleye Circuit Facebook page.
