During the Menominee Area Public Schools Board of Education meeting Monday, Pete Mayhew was named the district’s new interim superintendent. Mayhew was a math teacher and coach at Menominee High School for about 35 years. He served at St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in an administrative role and is also a member of the city’s Planning Commission. Mayhew has also stepped into an interim principal role at MHS briefly in 2018 where he was needed. At the moment, the length of time Mayhew will be in this role hasn’t been determined. Currently, the MAPS board is taking the necessary steps in the search for a new permanent superintendent.
