There were still too many questions by some council members for the Menominee City Council to take final action on a zoning ordinance amendment to specify what areas of the city would allow Marijuana establishments.  The proposed ordinance  includes marijuana growing, processing, and transportation facilities as an acceptable use in D-1 development districts, many of which are located along 10th street and are adjacent to residentially zoned areas.  Marijuana retail establishments would be allowed in both C1 Commercial districts and the C2 Waterfront Commercial District on First Street although the Downtown Development authority has registered their objections to allowing such establishments in the downtown district.  Regardless of location, the zoning ordinance would requirement special use permits for marijuana establishments.  On a motion by Alderman Frank Pohlman, the zoning issues were referred to the Council’s Judicial and Legislative Committee for further discussion.  That meeting would come in early January.
