The Menominee County Board was not ready to vote on a contract for prospective County Administrator Jason Carviou but will continue to negotiate a contract with Carviou. The county is offering a starting salary of $72,000. They decided to include in the proposed contract an annual raise based upon performance. Commissioner Charlie Meintz suggested a three per cent raise for high performance, and 2 or 1 percent for a lesser performance rating.
Commissioner Larry Schei in particular said he now had reservations about hiring Carviou since the Luxemburg, Wisconsin resident indicated he may not immediately be able to move to the area due to having to complete a renovation project before being able to sell his house. But other commissioners expressed their desire to move ahead with Carviou rather than having to start a candidate search again.
