03/11/2020- Menominee County taxpayers will see a pair of new millages supporting major community services on their tax bills. Residents yesterday voted 2653 in favor to 1255 against for an up to 0.625 mills request to fund the county’s E-911 System, as well as 2391 yes to 1525 no for a millage of up to 0.375 mills for the Menominee County Library. Both those millages will run from 2020 through 2024. Voters in Mellen Township also approved a 6-year, one mill increase for Emergency Medical and Fire Protection Services 152 to 45, however Menominee County voters in the Norway-Vulcan Area School District voted down a sinking fund millage for the district 46 to 30. On the Presidential side of things, the Democratic Primary winner in Menominee County was Joe Biden with 61% of the vote. Bernie Sanders was a distant second with 29%. President Donald Trump saw 94% of the Republican votes in the County and easily secured the top spot for that party.
