02/22/2019- Bitter cold temps are hitting residents right in the wallet, and unfortunately some are coming up short. That’s why the Community Action Agency’s annual Walk for Warmth this Saturday is as important as ever. The event raises money to provide heating assistance and every dollar raised stays in Menominee County. Renelle Betters with the Community Action Agency says the assistance is critical to bridge the gap for those who may not qualify for state-run programs.
Lori LaCasse also serves on the Walk for Warmth Steering Committee. She says it’s been an especially hard winter this year and that has more people needing a little help to keep their families warm. This year’s Walk for Warmth will have a new location to protect participants from the elements. The entire walk will be held inside the DAR Boys and Girls Club in Menominee. Registration opens at 9:00 and the walk starts at 10:00. You can make a direct donation to the program or find pledge forms online at mdscaa.org.
