09/06/2018- Menominee officially joins Michigan’s Redevelopment Ready Community program. The designation creates a partnership between the city and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to help Menominee attract more talent and business investment. Menominee will next receive a formal evaluation in 2019, which includes analyzing the city’s processes, practices, and policies as they relate to planning and economic development, as well as interviews with stakeholders and investors. The formal evaluation and accompanying self-evaluation will put the City on the path to becoming a certified Redevelopment Ready Community, which helps prioritize them for community development incentives. Other UP communities currently engaged in the RRC program include Houghton, Escanaba, and Ironwood.
