The City of Menominee is moving forward with arranging for financing for the Water and Sewer portion of several street reconstruction projects.  The city council approved notice of intent resolutions for the sale of $3.5 million dollars in revenue bonds for the water portion of the project and $2.1 million dollars for the sewer portion.  The cost of paying back those bonds is expected to raise the water and sewer bill of an average customer by $12 per quarter.   With the issuance of the notice of intent City Manager Tony Graff says citizens can petition for a referendum on the proposal within 45 days.  Petitions with signatures equal to at least 10 percent of the registered voters in the last general election would be needed to require a referendum.  Engineering design work is underway on the road projects, and construction is anticipated to begin in 2022.
