08/07/2018- A Milwaukee man is in Marinette County Court on a multitude of charges. An adjourned initial appearance was held Monday for 23-year-old Laron Mitchell who’s facing four counts of manufacturing or delivery of heroin and seven counts of felony bail jumping, as well as second-degree recklessly endangering safety, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and fleeing/eluding an officer. Mitchell was first arrested January 27th following a traffic stop in Menominee where officers found five grams of heroin and more than eight grams of cocaine on Mitchell. While out on bond for that incident, a drug investigation in Marinette County revealed he sold heroin to a confidential informant numerous times between January and February. Officers attempted to arrest Mitchell during one of these sales, but he fled south on Highway 141 in a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of around 110 miles per hour. Attempts to deploy spike stripes to stop Mitchell’s vehicle proved unsuccessful, but he was eventually apprehended by Oconto County police near the town of Chase. Mitchell is now due back in court for a status conference September 4th.
