08/24/2018- Two more Marinette Marine-built ships are delivered to the Navy. The Navy accepted LCS 11, the future USS Sioux City, and LCS 13, the future USS Wichita, during a ceremony held Wednesday at the local shipyard. They are the sixth and seventh Freedom-variant ships produced by Lockheed Martin and Fincantieri Marinette Marine. The future USS Wichita will be commissioned at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on November 17th and will be the first combat ship to be commissioned at the Academy. The future USS Wichita will be commissioned this winter in Jacksonville, Florida. Both ships’ home port will be Naval Station Mayport, Florida alongside the USS Milwaukee, the USS Detroit, and the USS Little Rock.
