01/21/2020- Another round of legislation authored by a local lawmaker aimed at combating opioid abuse and rehabilitating addicts is moving forward. The newest package of bills in Representative John Nygren’s HOPE Agenda were unanimously approved at the committee level last week. Nygren says these bills build upon prior work, while at the same time expanding the scope of the HOPE agenda to address addiction in multiple facets. The legislation proposes expanded access to recovery housing, protection for state employees undergoing medication-assisted treatment, extending the prescription drug monitoring program requirements, and extending the 911 Good Samaritan Law. Nygren’s HOPE bills now head to the full Assembly floor.
