02/17/2020- Some blighted Marinette County properties could get a badly needed facelift- and help solve the county’s housing shortage- if a partnership program with NEWCAP gets the final go-ahead from County Board. Last week the Administrative Committee discussed establishing a Revolving Rehabilitation Fund to allow NEWCAP to renovate or reconstruct properties the County acquires through tax delinquency before putting them back out for public auction. Supervisor Don Pazynski is a proponent of the program and hopes it might create a ripple effect.
NEWCAP will pitch project ideas to the Marientte County Industrial Development Corp who will administer the fund and help determine which sites are best suited for rehab. Supervisor Rick Polzin says there’s more than just renovation costs versus sale price to consider.
The Revolving Rehabilitation Fund would be started with a $500000 transfer from the County’s Property Tax Reduction Fund. The Administrative Committee unanimously approved the Fund and forwarded that recommendation on to the full County Board.
