Potable well sampling in an expanding site investigation show hundreds more local families are affected by PFAS contamination. Initial results from those properties in the Town of Peshtigo are in and while 74 were returned as non-detects, 222 others did show PFAS detections. Of those, 209 were above reporting limits, but below Wisconsin’s recommended standards and 13 registered above those recommended standards. The Wisconsin DNR took on the testing efforts in the region south of Tyco’s Fire Technology Center after the company declined to do the work, citing data that showed their PFAS compounds could not have traveled that distance or direction. The DNR has said they will seek cost recovery from Tyco for the work.
