03/23/2020- While many restaurants and retailers and closing their doors to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the Wisconsin DNR is letting people know the outside is still open. At this point, Wisconsin’s State Parks and Trails remain publicly accessible, offering people who may be feeling cooped up at home a chance to take advantage of the physical and mental benefits of spending time outdoors. The DNR has implemented voluntary registration fees at all of its state parks and recreation areas and while restroom facilities at these parks remain open, all offices and visitor centers will be closed. Visitors are reminded to practice proper personal hygiene to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to limit group sizes to under ten people when enjoying state properties. The DNR continues to receive the most up-to-date information and will monitor on-the-ground circumstances each day to determine if park closures become necessary.
