09/22/2020- Marinette has begun laying the groundwork for a Comprehensive Plan update. Bay Lake Regional Planning made a presentation to the City’s Plan Commission last week outlining the process for the mandated plan revision, which was last updated in 2004. Brandon Robinson with BLRP says in addition to updating the plan to adjust to unforeseen changes, new land use or development strategies, or changes in political leadership, it can also serve as a valuable marketing tool.
One of the first steps in updating the plan is gathering community input on the direction they’d like the City heading. That will be achieved through a public survey to be put out next month. Robinson adds that a story map component included in the new update will make it a more accessible, more interactive document.
The total cost of the Comprehensive Plan update is around $45,000, however, Marinette received a Wisconsin Coastal Management grant earlier this year that will cover almost half of that cost. Marinette’s newest Comprehensive Plan is expected to be rolled out by next June
