04/01/2020- Marinette County is reporting its second confirmed case of the novel coronavirus. Marinette County Public Health received notice Tuesday of another resident that tested positive for COVID-19 and has initiated the process of identifying and contacting anyone who has been in close contact with that person. Those individuals are asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days and will be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms. With no medicine or vaccines to treat or prevent COVID-19, Public Health is reminding people to continue to follow basic preventative steps including frequent and thorough handwashing, cleaning commonly touched surfaces, and practicing social distancing. Officials say while the COVID-19 pandemic is quickly evolving, residents are urged not to call Emergency Dispatch with questions. Instead, the latest information on the outbreak can be found on the on the CDC or Wisconsin DHS websites or by calling United Way 211. Oconto County and Michigan’s Delta County each have one confirmed case of COVID-19, but no cases have been reported out of neighboring Menominee County.
