While there is a movement in the Michigan Senate to expand County Commissioner terms from two to four years with support from the Michigan Association of Counties.  But a majority of the Menominee County Board feels the two year terms are just fine.  A resolution to support the 4 year terms was voted down 5-3.   Arguments against longer terms included how they could complicate the redistricting that happens every 10 years, and that voters have more control over who represents them with a shorter term.

The Board did approve a resolution asking the state of Michigan to pay the $230 thousand dollars owed the county for revenue sharing.  The state is suggesting payment not be made since the counties are receiving COVID grants.  But how the COVID money is used has restrictions while the revenue sharing payments can be used as necessary with no restrictions.
