08/31/2020- A grant from the M&M Area Community Foundation will support a new effort in Menominee County’s Faithorn Township to assist residents impacted by severe weather, fire, or other disasters. The municipality received $2900 grant from the Community-Wide Endowment held at the Foundation. The money will help to establish an Emergency Refuge, supporting the purchase of a backup power generator so the Faithorn Township Hall can be used as an emergency shelter to provide heat, water, lights, restroom and cooking facilities as needed during community wide emergency situations due to weather, fire or other extenuating situations. Bill DeVoe, Faithorn Township Fire Chief says one such emergency happened last Thanksgiving when power outages left several residents in the dark for several days. The Township Hall will be available to all residents on an as-needed basis.
