Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Marinette, in collaboration with Marinette County Public Health, is hosting its first bike rodeo event this Saturday, (May 1) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Led by NWTC’s Marinette nursing program students, the goal of this event is to ensure that children in the area will be able start the summer biking season safely.

The event will give away free bike helmets to youth attendees thanks to a grant provided by the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF).

In addition to free youth helmets, there will be a non-competitive safety skills course, a station for kids to learn the rules of the road, and a chance to learn bike safety inspection tips.  Electro-Mechanical students will be there in attendance as well to help with the bike inspection tips.”

The event will take place in the back parking lot of NWTC Marinette campus at 1601 University Drive. No registration is required. The event is free. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and a release of liability must be signed before participation. COVID precautions will be followed. Should there be rain, the new date will be Wednesday, May 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Questions can be directed to NWTC Marinette at 715-735-9361.
